Mauro Delorenzi is a junior group leader at ISREC and head of the BCF. Trained as an experimental biologist, Mauro later moved into bioinformatics and statistics. He has a broad interest in the application of mathematical techniques for the understanding of experimental data. His research currently focuses on the statistical analysis of microarray data, particularly classification, discrimination and biomedical data interpretation. With his group, he assists experimentalists in all stages of microarray experiments, and also helps the DNA array facility in method evaluation and optimization.

Pierre Farmer has been trained as both a pharmacologist and a bioinformatician. In previous research he studied the interaction of different signaling pathways involved in inflammatory response. He has experience applying classification techniques in the analysis of microarray data and carries out data analysis for NCCR projects. He also assists in the biological design of experiments and the evaluation of pilot experiments.

Darlene Goldstein is a statistician with the BCF half time and also has an appointment in the in the Statistics Chair of the Institute of Mathematics, EPFL. Her research is partly centered on statistical analysis of microarray data, in different areas from quality control and normalization, to meta-analytical analysis of multiple studies and application to genetic analysis. She also advises on experimental design and coordinates various educational training activities.

Eugenia Migliavacca is a bioinformatician in the BCF. A medicinal chemist by training, her previous research work concerned the utilization of quantum chemical descriptors in quantitative structure activity relationships and the understanding of molecular mechanisms of action for different classes of compounds. She has experience in relational database design and construction, machine learning methods, and mutivariate data analysis.

Thierry Sengstag is a bioinformatician with a background in physics. His activities at BCF include the analysis of microarray data, the annotation of custom-made microarrays, the development of analysis tools and system administration. He is also involved in the development of the bioinformatics activities at the DAF/Lausanne.

Mohamed Faouzi is a PhD student working with Mauro Delorenzi. His specific project involves evaluation and development of methods used in the analysis of microarray data, collaboration in the analysis of datasets, and combination of experimental and biological data in silico for the understanding of gene regulation and cancer. He works to tune and develop methodology to answer research questions of collaborating experimentalists.

Pratyaksha "Asa" Wirapati is a postdoctoral researcher with Mauro Delorenzi. His interest is in developing algorithms for data analysis in microarray experiments and genomics. He is currently focusing on a computational method for detecting patterns of interactions among genes from microarray data.

Alexandre Kuhn (post-doctoral researcher) was trained as a biologist with majors in molecular biology and human physiology. During his PhD, he focused on the mathematical modeling of neural systems and the analysis of complex data from neurophysiological experiments. He currently analyses DNA microarray data from several clinical experiments related to cardiology and cancer. Previous homepage .

Frederic Schutz is a postdoctoral researcher with Mauro Delorenzi. His interest is in analysis of proteomics and microarray experiments and in developing algorithms.

Vlad Popovici is a bioinformatician in the BCF. He is a computer scientist with a PhD in computer vision and pattern recognition. Vlad's major research interest is in the design of classifiers design and their applications to life sciences. Currently he is working on on applications of signal processing and related techniques to microarray data analysis.
